Dr Roby Abeles, MA, Psy.D
Roby has been a psychotherapist since 1989 when she completed her Bachelors Degree in Chemical Dependency Counselling and began working at the prestigious Betty Ford Center in America. It was there she received her initial training in addictive processes and facilitating group work. Since that time, she has gained ongoing experience and training in many areas, mostly in the fields of addiction and trauma. Roby has a private practice in Sydney where she has offices in both Mosman and Lane Cove. She teaches at the Australian College of Applied Psychology and lectures at both the Royal Prince Alfred and Westmead Hospitals in Trauma and Grief as they relate to health.
She began her Journey with Phoenix Rising Australia in 2007. Since then she has completed training in the Certificate IV and Diploma in Community Services. The philosophy and group work of Phoenix Rising fit well into her own prior learning which included a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Along with three other highly trained Phoenix Rising Australia facilitators; Greg Moran, Darlene and Greg Williams, Roby co-founded The Sanctuary Lane Cove, where Transformational Weekend Group Workshops are run six times per year.
The workshops combine a diverse range of therapeutic modalities to maximize participants results. These include; Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Expressive Arts Therapies (art, music, movement, dance, mind-body processes) Cranial-Sacral and other Body-Work, Gestalt, family sculpting, healing Water-Work (in a heated therapy pool), nurturing massage, guided visualizations, Jungian archetypal symbol work, and role plays.
Individuals, Couples and Families can also arrange for private 2, 3, 4 and/or 5 day sessions with The Sanctuary Lane Coves core facilitation team: Greg Moran, Darlene and Greg Williams, and Roby Abeles.
After a first session with Roby, where a thorough history of the issues to be addressed are identified, discussed and understood, the core team meet and the exact workshop needs of the participant/s are determined. The workshop is then designed specifically to address that participants needs. Other facilitators and specialists may be brought in to complement the skills of the team where necessary.
This intensive format of focused individual attention and high level of support allows greater depth and breadth of resolution of issues in a short amount of time. Price on Application.
