Professional Training
Facilitator Training, Ultimate Freedom Workshop & Bodywork.
The major difference between the Emotional Freedom Workshops and the Facilitator Training's is that the Emotional Freedom Workshops do not have an educational component. The BodyWork Workshops are a hands-on combination of theory and practice training sessions in a variety of BodyWork techniques.
These two preliminary training courses are designed to introduce students to the concepts, processes, and philosophies which are further developed in the subsequent courses.
They have three functions:
1) To let the student know if this is the type of programme they are interested in.
2) to allow the student to work on processing their own issues which enables them to be clearer in their own minds and emotions prior to beginning the academic work in later Courses.
3) Allows the trainers to observe whether the student is ready to move on to higher levels of training. This is for the benefit and safety of the student and the student’s future clients.
The Facilitator and Bodywork Training's ARE EXPERIENTIAL IN NATURE. This means that you participate in those training's by having the facilitators and trainers process your own issues with you in front of the whole group. You may also be called upon to role play with other students by standing in for significant people in their lives to support them in processing their issues.
It is very important that you understand the completely experiential nature of the Facilitator and Bodywork Training's as they require a high level of personal participation, as well as an ability and willingness to access and experience your own emotions and to remain focused and calm while others in your group access theirs. This is a fantastic training opportunity as it is as close as is possible to finding out early on in your training if counselling is what you think it will be and whether you want to pursue it to higher levels of competency.
Each student attending these Training Courses is therefore agreeing to make themselves available in the group during the training to explore, identify, and process their own and their peers emotions as a hands on way to understand how to understand and process issues.
One of the blocks to being able to facilitate others effectively is the level to which one’s own issues are unresolved. It is vital that all students who embark on a career in counselling be aware of their own issues and become familiar with the skills necessary to process each specific issue through to completion for themselves so that they can then lead others into those places.
The best counsellor is one who does not just understand counselling because they read about it in a book. The best counsellor can guide their client through their issues because they have already done this themselves and are comfortable and confident to go there again with others.
These first two Practitioner Training Courses need to be passed to the satisfaction of the trainers so that each student has the ability to maintain neutrality (stay focused on their client rather than their own issues taking precedence) when counselling others in further courses before they may enrol in more advanced courses. This is for the benefit of learning and safety for each of our students and subsequently their clients.
What if I’ve done a lot of my own personal growth work already or I have a Bachelors Degree or higher in Counselling or a related field of study. Do I still have to do Facilitator Training?
Even if you have done your own personal growth work, or have earned a higher tertiary degree, we require you first participate in our Facilitator Training.
At Phoenix Rising Australia we are very proud of the quality of care that we give our clients. As such, we need to be absolutely sure that you are at a level where you are able to contain your own issues, and manage your own affect (feelings) while keeping the focus on a client’s issues before we assign you to your own group or individual clients.
After much discussion, we have decided that the best way to assess your readiness is by getting to know you while you participate at our Facilitator Training.
